Clinton CFB Foundation Awards $2,500 Veterinarian Scholarship

An area veterinary school student was recently selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship from the Clinton County Farm Bureau Foundation for the 2024-2025 school year.

Carly Etter, daughter of Mark and Francine Etter of Breese, is a 2019 graduate of Mater Dei High School, a 2023 graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and is currently in her second year at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.

Upon graduation, Etter plans to be a field research veterinarian, helping to identify and relieve disease outbreaks on local farms in our community as we further understand the pathways of disease transfer between animals, people and the environment. She hopes to work both at the local level and the industry level to provide safety and success for the animal agriculture industry as a whole. “I aim to care for local farmers and ensure their financial well-being by working with vaccine and antibiotic research that can be applied at all levels of industry.”

The Clinton CFB Foundation started the veterinarian scholarship program back in 2013 to assist students enrolled in their second, third, or fourth year at an accredited college of veterinary medicine, specializing in large animals.

Scholarships can be a maximum of $5,000, and a total of $10,000 is dedicated to this program each year. Etter is a first-time applicant taking advantage of this program. To-date, a total of $39,500 has been awarded through the Foundation’s Veterinarian Scholarship program.

One of the Clinton CFB Foundation’s goals is to provide financial assistance to students entering a field of study directly (or indirectly) related to agriculture. This opportunity (and all Foundation scholarships) is only possible with the generous giving of Farm Bureau members who support the Foundation and its goals.

If you are interested in providing tax-deductible contributions to support the scholarship or Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) programs, contact the office at 526-7235 or [email protected].

The Clinton CFB Foundation would like to congratulate Carly on her accomplishments and scholarship and offer our best wishes for success in college and her professional endeavors.
