2022 “Community Impact Grant” Recipient – Clinton County 4-H

The final featured recipient from Clinton County Farm Bureau’s 2022 “Community Impact Grant” program is the Clinton County 4-H Program.  The Clinton County Farm Bureau (CFB) awarded a total of $5,000 to six (6) groups to assist with community projects in 2022.

The Clinton County 4-H program was awarded $700 for their Raised Bed Donation Garden project.  Raised bed vegetable gardens were constructed in the county to allow youth to meet with local volunteers and Extension staff to learn about gardening while growing vegetables to be donated to community food pantries.

Makayla Karrick, Extension Program Coordinator (4-H Youth Development) said, “We were able to build a garden at Jaycee Park in Breese to encourage our 4-H members to participate in community service by keeping up with the garden.  4-H members and community members will constantly be able to learn how to grow their own food and always feel welcome to take what they need through this garden.  We were also able to purchase a hydroponics garden to gift to a member to promote food access and other options to grow their own food.  We also purchased pots and seeds for our members to make their own planted pot at an open house to get an understanding of what it takes to grow your own garden.”

2022 was the 2^nd year for the Clinton CFB’s “Community Impact Grant Program”.  The grant program had a great response, receiving seven (7) applications that requested over $17,000 in funding.  The Clinton County Farm Bureau is offering the “Community Impact Grants” again for 2023, with applications available online now with an April 30^th deadline.
