2022 “Community Impact Grant” Recipient – St. Rose Development Club

The goal of the Clinton County Farm Bureau’s 2nd annual “Community Impact Grant” program was to create partnerships with other groups and organizations for projects that would improve our communities.  For 2022, the Clinton County Farm Bureau awarded a total of $5,000 to six (6) groups to assist with these types of community projects.  This edition’s featured recipient is the St. Rose Development Club (SRDC).

The St. Rose Development Club was awarded $1,000 to help replace the first and third baseline fences at the main park’s ball diamond in St. Rose.  The ball diamond is used by the community of St. Rose, the St. Rose Youth League, and surrounding area leagues as well.

Justin Detmer from the Development Club said that the fence replacement at the SRDC Ball diamond has improved the appearance, experience, and safety for all the teams and spectators.  Detmer explained, “The fence we replaced was in disrepair and becoming a safety hazard for the players and spectators.  The old fence was 6-ft tall and made it hard
for anyone sitting on the bleachers (or standing) to see due to the top pipe being at eye level.  The new fence is 8-ft tall and eliminated that issue as well as providing more  Protection.  The new 8-ft fence also gives better protection for the dugouts by eliminating a one-foot gap where balls could get through.  Also, while installing the fence, we moved the entrance to the dugout out to the far end to give the players better protection from foul balls entering the area.”

2022 was the 2nd year for the Clinton County Farm Bureau’s “Community Impact Grant Program”.  The grant program had a great response this year, receiving seven (7) applications that requested over $17,000 in funding. With a total of $5,000 budgeted for the program, the Farm Bureau could only fund portions of many of the projects that were awarded this year.  In the program’s inaugural year (2021), the Clinton County Farm Bureau awarded a total of $1,950 in Community Grants to two organizations.
