Holevoet Learns Leadership Skills with ALOT Program

ALOT, short for Agriculture Leaders of Tomorrow, is an 8-week program open to any Illinois Farm Bureau member actively engaged in agriculture. Established in 1979, more than 1,000 participants have graduated from the program. The main areas of study include communication and engagement, political involvement, agriculture economics, current global issues, and professional leadership development.

After 5 weeks, the group has participated in an etiquette lunch, learned the essentials of professionalism, enhanced communication skills and influence, practiced how to communicate with the media, attended the Governmental Affairs and Leadership Conference, learned how to get involved with local and state government, visited the Capitol and met with state representatives and senators, and heard from Prairie Farms, Country Financial, IAACU, and the AFBF.

Local Farm Bureau leader Ron Holevoet is one of the participants of the 2023 ALOT class.  Ron and his wife Sue farm in Carlyle, Illinois. They raise corn, soybeans, wheat, and alfalfa. They also feed out 75 to 100 head of steers every year. Ron is a graduate of Geneseo High School.  He worked for Kinder Morgan Pipeline Company for 34 years and retired almost 5 years ago. Ron is also a member of the American Society of Agriculture Appraisers and appraise farm equipment. He is on the Clinton County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and serves as Treasure and Legislative Chairman. Ron likes almost all sports and enjoys watching his grandkids participate in their various sports.
