Six (6) Young Leader Committee members from Clinton County recently attended the Illinois Farm Bureau’s (IFB) Young Leader Conference. Nearly 500 Young Leaders in agriculture from across the state met in Springfield for the annual conference on February 2nd-3rd.
During the conference, attendees could choose from five tracks of workshops and 15 sessions covering topics such as agronomy, commodity markets, grain bin and farm safety, canning, mental health, farming outlook, motivational leadership, niche farming markets, financial advice, an Organizational Member Strategy update, and more!
Several of the break-out sessions at the IFB Young Leader Conference were standing room only, including a panel of three farmers talking about their first five to 10 years in farming. Conference attendees also heard weather stories from Eric Snodgrass, Atmospheric Scientist for Nutrien Ag Solutions, enjoyed a new ice cream social with the “Silent Auction” fundraiser, and even had opportunities for fun and networking at a separate “Harvest for All” Fun Night and a 90’s-themed Trivia Night events.
The goal for the conference is to keep our members excited by the latest innovations in agriculture, informed about the ever-changing landscape in the industry, and equipped to be better farmers and leaders.
