On Thursday, September 24, Ag in the Classroom Coordinator Susan Kleiboeker hosted the 17th annual Progressive Ag Safety Day, bringing together 425 sixth-grade students from 11 Clinton County schools for a day focused on agricultural and rural safety.
Students began the day with a powerful keynote from Russel Hallemann, who shared a personal, real-life experience that reinforced the importance of making safe choices and understanding how quickly accidents can happen.
Throughout the day, students rotated through interactive safety stations covering topics such as electrical, water, grain and agricultural safety. More than 90 volunteers shared their time, knowledge and expertise to provide students with hands-on learning experiences.
We are incredibly grateful to all of the volunteers, presenters, schools, teachers and organizations who helped make the event possible, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, The Maschhoffs, University of Illinois Extension, Clinton County Electric, JULIE, B3, Hunter Safety, Clinton County Farm Bureau, Marion County Farm Bureau and many others.
A special thank-you to Susan Kleiboeker for organizing another successful Safety Day and to everyone who helped make safety education a priority for the next generation. We truly could not do it without the incredible support of our community!
