27 May Clinton CFB Awards $5,000 in Community Impact Grants
For the second year, the Clinton County Farm Bureau’s “Community Impact Grant” program sought to identify projects that would improve our communities and create partnerships with other groups and organizations to make them happen. The grant program had a great response this year, receiving seven (7) applications that requested over $17,000 in funding. With a total of $5,000 budgeted for the program, the Farm Bureau could only fund portions of many of the projects that were awarded this year.
Projects awarded grant funding for 2022 include:
- Germantown Park District was awarded $1,000 for their Lake Park Playground Equipment Replacement project. Volunteers plan to remove existing equipment that is over 30-years old and install new equipment for the community to enjoy.
- Aviston Park District was awarded $1,000 for their Park Softball Diamond Renovation project. Project volunteers hope to replace the backstop netting and fix unlevel concrete around the concession stand.
- The St. Rose Development Club was awarded $1,000 to help replace the first and third baseline fences at the main park’s ball diamond in St. Rose.
- Rose Clover Crew 4-H was awarded $800 to construct a Gaga Ball Court at the park in St. Rose. The club discovered the new game at 4-H camp in 2021 and is excited to bring this fun activity back to the youth of Clinton County.
- The Clinton County 4-H program was awarded $700 for their Raised Bed Donation Garden project. Raised bed vegetable gardens will be constructed in the county that will allow youth to meet with local volunteers and Extension staff to learn about gardening while growing vegetables to be donated to community food pantries.
- The University of Illinois Extension was awarded $500 to develop Hydroponic Table-Top Displays. Extension staff and Master Gardeners plan to utilize the displays with schools, FFA chapters, and 4-H youth to illustrate the process of producing their own kits while learning about food production.
Congratulations to all recipients of Clinton CFB’s 2022 “Community Impact Grant” program! We appreciate the opportunity to work with great organizations and individuals on projects to improve our communities and look forward to seeing them make a difference.
