Members of the Clinton County Farm Bureau (CFB) Young Leader Committee recently delivered the first donation from their 2022 Farm Safety Grant program with a $1,000 donation to the Clin-Clair Fire Department. Three county departments requested grants for equipment assistance this year, including items such as: battery-powered extrication equipment, a rescue chain package, and grain bin rescue equipment.
To start this year’s grant program, the Young Leaders again reached out to local fire departments to see if there were pieces of equipment they could use if funding was made available to assist with the cost. They only stipulation was that it had to be related to farm safety. In total, $3,000 will be presented to three fire departments in Clinton County. $700 of those dollars came from a Farm Safety Grant by Illinois Farm Bureau and COUNTRY Financial, with the balance of funds awarded coming directly from the Young Leader Committee.
The Clin-Clair FPD was the first one of three grants to be awarded to-date. Additional donations will be scheduled with departments in Santa Fe and Germantown as soon as their equipment arrives.
