The Clinton County Farm Bureau (CFB) Young Leader Committee recently awarded the first two of seven equipment grants for 2025. Sugar Creek Ambulance Service received $250, while Wheatfield Fire Protection District was awarded $1,000.
Grant funds were used to purchase agriculture-related equipment to assist emergency responders with grain bin rescues, farm equipment rollovers, patient handling, and propane/natural gas detection. With agriculture playing a major role in Clinton County, local departments find these items to be vital additions to their emergency response capabilities.
To date, the Clinton CFB Young Leaders have awarded a total of $14,450 through their FPD/EMS Grant Program. This year’s round of funding includes a $900 “Farm Safety Grant” from Illinois Farm Bureau and COUNTRY Financial, bringing the total to $3,500 across seven grants ranging from $250 to $1,000.
Sugar Creek Ambulance Service was awarded $250.00 to use toward the purchase of a Hartwell Combi Carrier, scoop stretchers and an extrication board.
Wheatfield Fire Protection District was awarded $1,000 to purchase a 60-volt 20-inch chainsaw and 20-volt DeWalt leaf blower.
